Fabric vs. Leather Lounge Suites…

May 3, 2013

What’s the difference?

Firstly, there are quite a few!  When choosing a new lounge suite for your home, it’s essential that the material is suited to your standard of living.  For instance, fabric is fantastic if you wish to create a bold statement because you generally have a virtual rainbow of colours and patterns to choose from.  However, if you enjoy entertaining, be cautious with spills (of any kind) on a fabric lounge as liquid easily absorbs into fabric, whereas a spill on leather can be simply wiped off.

Love leather?  How can you not?  Leather looks rich and has a lifetime of approximately 10 years, which makes it an attractive, long-term investment.  Leather lounge and sofa suites are available in fewer colours due to the material being natural.  Adding your own touch with some colourful cushions or a throw rug will instantly brighten and stylise any leather lounge.  Check out the “Tammy” recliner suite below, which has been accentuated with some blue and white striped accessories for a nautical theme…

A fabric sofa may feel softer and more luxurious than its leather counterpart and your pets will most likely agree, which is a bonus as fabric is also the more pet-friendly of the two options.  Stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer with the comfort of a fabric lounge suite as opposed to leather that can get pretty hot – and sticky! – in higher temperatures.   Here’s the new release “Atlas” suite in fabric that was just made for unwinding and watching movies…

As you can see there are pros and cons to buying both leather and fabric lounge suites.  Our best advice is to choose a lounge that will fit in with your lifestyle and not the other way around.
